Children in Colombia
UCAN is partnering with schools in Medellín, Colombia to deliver free, virtual English lessons. We will be using Google Classroom to host all classes. Each class will have two teachers and 10 students. Our teachers are volunteers that are fluent in English and familiar with Spanish. As our organization expands, classes will be organized based on age-level and English experience. While we are focusing on Medellín, Colombia at the moment, we will be expanding to other countries soon!

Officially launched back in September of 2020, our first ever international tutoring program welcomed over 20 outstanding Colombian students and 12 dedicated tutors. In their first semester, our tutors covered a variety of topics including introductions, using "to be", family members/pets, possessive adjectives, plural nouns, apostrophes, and so much more! During class, our students were actively engaged, answering questions, participating in friendly competitions, and playing all kinds of games! Lesson materials and screen recordings of each class were posted diligently for the option to review. At the end of each month, we dedicated an entire week to cultural enrichments, where we shared a bit of our American culture with our students and they too, shared theirs! Additionally, two progress exams were administered to help our educational development team and tutors better meet the needs of our students.
